A CHANCE TO HELP

Today I had a very interesting experience on campus. I decided to join the Student Safety Council at BYU-Idaho sometime ago. The Student Safety Council is responsible for promoting safety among the students on campus, and this semester we are promoting the Walk Wise Week. We are trying to make students conscious that THEY NEED TO USE THE CROSSWALKS when they cross the street!!! And also that they look to both sides before crossing, etc. That sounds SO RETARDED but unfortunately people are not very aware of the cross walks here on campus and around town... Do they think that those lines drawn on the streets are works of art? Go figure.

But anyway, this morning I was able to serve FREE... I said FREE hot chocolate on campus and pass arounf flyers :) It was a TON of fun!!! Also yesterday, we did the funniest coreography at the country dance on campus to promote the event as well... Some people felt extremely embarrassed... But I didn't!!! Those people at the country dance (most of them) are so weird anyways!!! :P

Felt good to help people somehow though ;)

PIECE OF CRAP

My Creative Writing class can turn out to be VERY interesting sometimes. We were given a mid-term last Tuesday that was due on Wednesday. We had some guidelines to follow, and when it comes to writing, especially Poetry, that can be a problem for me. After many hours trying to come up with something that would fit at least some of the requirements I was SO frustrated, that I was about to give up... I took a small break so I could get my so desired Coke... Whoever knows me well knows I LOVE Coke! I came back to the computer after a little while, and decided that I was going to write WHATEVER!!! Here's what I got on the paper:

PIECE OF CRAP POEM

Turn the table to the top

Taking time to tackle talk

Trick or treating as they walk

Candy, caramel and pop

Day demands a dragging clock

Tic and tac and start and stop

Day is light and night is dark

Just as plain as black and white

Leaves that lie along the line

Of the gray straight narrow path

Fill the street with color warm

Orange, red, and brown and tan

Night can fall at any time

Starring stars with greatest shine

Brightening the sea of seals

Standing shiny on the rocks

Better be a banal write

Before best becomes so far

Don't ask me what it means, because I have no idea. It was supposed to be a non-sense poem anyway. When I arrived in class today, the teacher asked each of us to recite our poems and I almost refused to do it, because I thought it was a piece of crap... When he said "well but that's it's what's supposed to be" I had to recite it...

People in my class might have been high... They all said it was THE BEST poem of the class!

Go figure...

PORTFOLIO

I am putting together a Portfolio for my Introduction to Advertising class. I love that class but it is a lot of work! Can't wait to get done with the project. It's due this Monday. I'm excited about it though :)

Better go work on it. Friday was FUN! Ana and Hans are so AWESOME! I had a blast!

CREATIVE WRITING

I am taking a Creative Writing Class at school. It is one of the General Education requirements that I still have to complete here at BYU-Idaho. We get to express ourselves through writing, and since I am really fond of Poetry, I have been able to write a few pieces. They are not very good, but I am going to post them here anyways. If anyone could give me some constructive criticism, that would be appreciated.

I am sitting in class right now, and we are discussing some other writings that were submitted by the students.

Here is my most recent poem:

WEATHER

The day awakes with blue skies

The sun reflects most gorgeous lights

The angel, gold, magnificent

On top of His house stands.

The winds decide to wake up too

And be a part of the scene

Blowing slowly they start

Strongly lifting the dust high.

Not so happy with that all

Gray, dark clouds want to impose

Their sounding thunders roar

The rain that is about to pour

Sun has been covered with them

His rays wanting to shine

In desperate need to brighten the day

He asks the winds: Please blow them away!

Full of mercy, full of love

The winds decide to help their friend

Blowing and blowing slowly they

Ask the clouds to go on their way.

Convinced, the clouds agree with them

They gather their thunders

They gather the gray.

And head to the North,

Where thirsty plants wait

The sun is ready to make our day.

This poem basically describes one of the days we had here in Rexburg. I tried to depict it as poetically as possible. Don't know if I was able to.

After a Little While...

Since classes begun, I haven't had a lot of time to post on my blog. There are tons of things going on in my life but they are all for good :)

A little update:
- I'm taking Ballet lessons at BYU-Idaho. I love the class! It is a little hard but it works as my therapy for the daily stress of homeworks and assignments that have no end.
- I'm back to working at the Grounds Crew - I take care of the gardens of the school and it is a lot of fun. I have a new boss though: Ben. He's very nice and we all have a lot of fun at work! But we work hard as well!
- I'm also teaching the Church's Career Workshop twice/three times a week on-campus. It is an amazing experience and I love it!
- I'm taking a creative writing class. Meaning I get to write poems and fiction in English :) Gotta love that!
- I'm going to San Jose, California in a month with the school.
- I'm a Relief Society Teacher - Teachings for Our Day. The best class ever!!!

Even though I am going through some hard times in my life right now, I have reasons only to be GRATEFUL to my Heavenly Father for all that He provides me. I never feel lonely. He's always there for me :)

I'll be posting some pictures too. At least I go Latin Dancing every Friday for only a buck :) Cheap but FUN!!!

Be back soon.
